Patrik Schnauck – Cares for his dream Porsche 911 3.0 SC
We interviewed Patrik about his personal dream car
Swissvax: "Patrik, thank you for letting us learn more about your personal 'Care for your Dream' story. Since when have you owned your Porsche?"
Patrik: Since summer 2020. After quite a long search, I found the car near Stuttgart and took it home immediately.
Swissvax: "Why did you choose a Porsche 911 from 1980?"
Patrik: Porsche has fascinated me for a long time – like many others. A long-time friend in Switzerland bought a 1974 Porsche a few years ago, and that made me start thinking about it again.
Swissvax: "So the car has been your dream for quite some time?"
Patrik: Yes. Years ago there was the series "Californication" starring David Duchovny. We watched it constantly back then, and the main character Hank Moody drove a black Porsche from the eighties. The lifestyle, the way he handled and enjoyed the car – that fascinated me deeply.
Swissvax: "The color is quite rare – most people choose silver, white or black. Why Oak Green?"
Patrik: Precisely because few have it. You don’t configure a car like this – you search online, read up on it, and study classic paint and leather combinations. In an interview, Wolfgang Porsche once mentioned that Ferry Porsche preferred green shades such as Oak Green and Brewster Green. His son Wolfgang Porsche continues that tradition today. I found that inspiring and began specifically looking for green tones.
Swissvax: "What does 'Care for your Dream' mean to you?"
Patrik: My dream car occupied my thoughts for years, even decades. The series Californication rekindled that fascination. But the relationship with the car started long before. In 2020, I finally had the opportunity to make that dream come true. I enjoy the lifestyle, the purity and the relaxed character of the car almost daily – not only on the road but also during maintenance. That includes washing it exclusively by hand. Each time is a new encounter. Through polishing, waxing and sealing by hand, I continuously discover new details about the car. I understand it better – and its history. A relationship develops.
Swissvax: "We hear that often – building a relationship with the car."
Patrik: Yes, that’s important to me. Sometimes the three of us drive together – my son in the front, my wife in the back. The car becomes part of the experience and brings new ideas and destinations. We go places we would never otherwise visit. Sometimes I simply drive on a Sunday morning along Ku'damm in Berlin or out to the Baltic Sea. Would I do that with my normal family car? Probably not. It’s natural for me to treat this car differently and take my time – those are special moments.
